    The OIC Home Carer leaving random acts of kindness to make the people of Orkney smile

    A Council Home Carer has been sharing random acts of kindness around Orkney – despite recent surgery on her arthritic thumbs.

    Josie Stanger, from Stromness, underwent a successful operation in October to relieve her painful joints and was advised by her physiotherapist to exercise her hands and fingers to strengthen and improve her grip.

    Slab repair works in the town’s Victoria Street has moved from the Bank of Scotland towards Graham Place this week.

    To allow the contractor – BDS Surfacing Ltd - to carry out their work safely there will be no parking in Graham Place from Thursday 27 January for around one week until the repairs have been completed.

    Orkney campaign to purchase NSPCC books to help keep children safe from sexual abuse

    An NSPCC children’s book to help keep children safe from sexual abuse will be shared with parents and our peedie people here in Orkney as part of the local Talk PANTS campaign. 

    Copies of Pantosaurus and the Power of PANTS are to be purchased as part of the local campaign and distributed to several outlets, including schools, via health visitors, libraries, and key agencies such as Women’s Aid Orkney, the Orkney Rape and Sexual Assault Service, Voluntary Action Orkney to ensure the book is read and shared by as many parents and carers with young children as possible.
