Orkney Islands Council will be closing Albert Street car park on Monday 31 January for a period of four days (up to and including Thursday 3 February)

Harbour Authority to flag up “factual inaccuracies” within Scottish Government consultation document
The OIC Harbour Authority Sub-committee has given its backing to a Harbour Authority response pointing out “factual inaccuracies and glaring omissions” within the latest Scottish Government National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4) consultation document in relation to Orkney.

Scapa Flow wartime history to be remembered as plans for a new Harbours storage building progress
Plans for a purpose-built storage area for the Harbour Authority, incorporating a modern, up-to-date display and exhibition area for HMS Royal Oak and Scapa Flow and memorial garden moved a step forward this week.
Councillors at the OIC Harbour Authority Sub-committee gave the £500,000 proposal their support, recommending that a stage 2 capital project appraisal be submitted to the Council’s Policy and Resources Committee.

OLECG members urge caution as restrictions ease further
Members of the Orkney Local Emergency Coordination Group who met today, Wednesday, have sounded a note of caution following the Scottish Government announcement of a further easing of the COVID rules.
Whilst welcoming the relaxation, representatives of the group maintain it is vital to keep a “steady as we go” approach and have asked communities across Orkney to remain vigilant.
