Stromness flagstone works update

Slab repair works in the town’s Victoria Street has moved from the Bank of Scotland towards Graham Place this week.

To allow the contractor – BDS Surfacing Ltd - to carry out their work safely there will be no parking in Graham Place from Thursday 27 January for around one week until the repairs have been completed.

This means that the road will continue to be closed from Hellihole Road / Dundas Street junction to Church Road, with no through access. This section of the works is expected to take 5-6 weeks to complete, which will be weather dependant.

Where required, repaired areas will be covered temporarily to allow them to fully cure, and it will be necessary for the areas to remain closed while this takes place. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.

The contractor’s working hours will generally be 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday working.

The Council would like to apologise for the inconvenience these works may cause and thank the public for their ongoing patience.
