“Superstar” students showcase their sporting successes and special deeds – Malcolm Clark (5)
Tiny Malcolm Clark had a mountain to climb when he was born three months prematurely weighing less than a 2lb bag of sugar on 2 September 2015.
Now a strapping five-year-old – Malcolm, from Hoy, is still climbing – this time Orkney’s highest hill – Ward Hill on Hoy – raising money for the hospital that cared for him when he was born.

A 10-year-old Glaitness School pupil says “dreams do come true when you work hard” – after making a name for herself in the competitive world of equestrianism.
Jorgi Craigie and her mum Caroline made a 1,500-mile round trip to compete in one of the world’s most prestigious equestrian events – the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in England.

The way the Local Biodiversity Record Centre is run is under review from this week (26 July)
Due to a vacant post, the Council and partner organisations involved in natural heritage management and protection are looking at how the Centre can be taken forward in conjunction with changes to national biodiversity recording.
