The Council has launched a recruitment drive in a bid to attract more school cooks and kitchen assistants.
Pupils have also joined the campaign appealing for more chefs to “keep our bellies and brains busy!”

School meals update
A ten pence increase in the price of school meals in Orkney will come into effect following the Easter break.
From Tuesday 19 April, a two course school meal will cost £2.70 for primary pupils and £2.80 for secondary pupils.

Avian flu reminder to all poultry keepers
Poultry keepers in Orkney are being reminded of the national requirement to keep their birds indoors and follow the strict measures in place to limit the spread of Avian flu.
An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) - followed by additional housing measures - came into force across the UK during November 2021.
