An Orkney student has used her creative talents to “Show Racism the Red Card” winning her way through to the finals of a national anti-racism education charity competition.

S4 student at Kirkwall Grammar School, Marta Bogucka, created a piece of artwork which judges described as being of “outstanding calibre”.

Marta and up to three guests have been invited to attend the Show Racism the Red Card charity ceremony at Glasgow’s Hampden Park on Friday 10 June when the winners will be announced, alongside entertainment and a mini educational session.

Nominations for the Community Council elections close next week (Wednesday 15 June at 5pm). Scottish Water will be carrying out essential repairs to the water network on Bridge Street in Kirkwall from Monday 13 June for up to five days, with a road closure in place for the duration.
