Risk Management
Orkney Islands Council understands the importance of recognising and managing the many risks which are inherent in its activities and the services it provides for the benefit of our communities. Risk can never be entirely eliminated and indeed in managing risk, this can lead to positive opportunities which, with the appropriate levels of control, may lead to service improvements.
In order to manage and monitor its risks, the Council has a risk management strategy which is reviewed biannually and a series of risk registers which are managed in accordance with the policy and strategy. The Corporate Risk Register documents the biggest risks to the Council and is reviewed regularly by the risk owners and biennially by the Council.
