Learning and Development
High quality service provision is at the heart of our organisation. A motivated, highly skilled, committed and flexible workforce is key to achieving this. Our staff is one of our key assets and we know that maintaining and developing their skills is the key to continuous improvement in delivering services.
To ensure our employees are sufficiently equipped to be able to meet the changing demands of working in the public sector we provide them with access to a range of learning and development activities.
As well as offering face to face training sessions we can also arrange for staff to have access to some of the courses provided by Orkney College. We also use OIC iLearn, an online facility through which staff can complete e-learning courses.
iLearn provides an online learning experience for employees which can be accessed from work for courses where study time has been agreed in advance with their line managers. iLearn can also be accessed from home allowing employees to access learning material in their own time should they so wish. It is a flexible system that allows access to learning and development opportunities at a time and environment to suit individual needs and situations.
The employees’ link to iLearn is available from the 'Related Links' section of this page. Your user name is your six digit employee (payroll) number which can be found on your payslip or can be requested from us and your initial password is your surname in block capitals.
