Integration Joint Board
The first formal meeting of the Integration Joint Board (IJB) was held on 8 March 2016. The formation of the IJB was a key element in the legislation introduced by the Scottish Government. From 1 April 2016 the IJB formally took over responsibility for health and social care planning and delivery.
The Scottish Government legislation also laid out that the membership of the IJB should include equal participation from NHS Orkney and Orkney Islands Council to ensure joint decision making and accountability. The IJB also has a range of other members representing various stakeholder groups including staff, third sector, service users, the independent sector and housing.
Working together, the IJB aims to improve and develop social care, community health and wellbeing. We want to provide the best possible care for people in Orkney, wherever they live and whatever their circumstances.
