Ways to Vote
There are several different ways Orkney voters can cast their ballot at an Election or Referendum.
The first step is to ensure you are correctly registered to vote - so if you have moved or can't remember receiving and/or returning your annual canvass form, then you should contact the Orkney Electoral Registration Office using the details below.
Vote in Person
Vote in person at your local polling station. Polling stations open at 07:00 and will close at 22:00. Polling stations will be advertised in the local press and made available via this website.
Postal Vote
For those who are registered but not listed as a postal voter you can apply to vote by post now by visiting www.orkney-shetland-vjb.co.uk and downloading the application form.
Proxy Vote
Apply to vote by proxy. This means someone else can vote on your behalf. If you appoint a proxy, you can vote if you wish, but only if your proxy has not already voted on your behalf and has not got a postal vote for you.
The deadlines for any of the above are publicised on the appropriate Election page on this website whenever an Election or Referendum is announced.
