Investors in People - important invite to all staff

Earlier this year a decision was taken that Orkney Islands Council would join the Investors in People (IIP) community.

IIP Investors in People provides a framework to support organisations across the world to improve performance through people.

Their standards are at the cutting edge of people management and their accreditation is held by over 15,000 organisations across 75 countries.

As the first step in this, a survey will launch at the end of this week.

The survey will be open to all staff: In most cases, a unique link will be sent directly to your email inbox for the online survey and will be sent to whichever email address you have as your default within our HR/Payroll system – for some of you that will be your work email address and others it may be a personal email address. These emails will arrive from noreply@investorsinpeople.co.uk so please keep an eye out for this arriving from tomorrow, Friday 18 November. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

Staff for whom we do not hold a registered work or personal email address will receive a letter from the Council with details on how they can access and complete the survey.

In January, IIP will select a sample of people from across Orkney Islands Council to meet with individually or in groups with an independent IIP Investors in People representative, to discuss various aspects of their work, the organisation and their development. Invites will be sent out to that sample group before Christmas.

This is not an audit - there are no right or wrong answers, and this is not a test of people’s knowledge of OIC or IIP Investors in People. With your help, the idea is for IIP to gauge what we do well and where we can improve. It is important that people are open and honest in their responses. The survey is entirely confidential with responses going direct to IIP and no results will be attributable to individuals.

Once these elements are complete, the Council will receive a final report from IIP and, working together, will look at areas for improvement and development, following this up on an ongoing basis as we follow their review cycle.
