First set of finalists selected for VIP Awards

Dear Colleagues

Our Values In Practice Awards which highlight and celebrate the great work across Orkney Islands Council and recognises efforts which reflect Our Values - People, Unity, Trust, Ownership and Creativity.

Over the past few months, employees, customers, and communities have been nominating colleagues across the three categories below. Our VIP Selection Panel have been reviewing these nominations and have selected the following finalists for each category in this round:   

• Customer Focus
  • Caretaking Team at School Place - SPBS
  • Care at Home Assistant - OHAC

• Working Together
  • Rona Humphries, Teacher - ELH
  • Daniel Morris, Graduate Marine Planner - NSI 

• Creativity
  • Library and Archives Team at Orkney Library - ELH
  • Alison Stewart, Senior Administrative Officer – OHAC

These six finalists along with the further finalists from our selection panels for rounds two and three will be entered into the Annual Awards selection process, which will take place in June 2024 - more details to follow on this. We recognise that we all have different preferences when it comes to celebrating our success and so finalists can opt out of having their name included in the communications, but are still included in the selection process and are invited to the Annual Awards event.
