Be part of the new ViP Awards team
Date: 5 July 2023
Time: 12:00
The Council is launching ViP Awards, a scheme to highlight and celebrate great work across the Council – and you can be part of the process!
ViP stands for ‘Values in Practice’ – with the awards aimed at recognising work which reflects and embodies Our Values: People, Unity, Trust, Ownership and Creativity.
We’re looking for panel members to help judge nominations in three categories:
- Creativity
- Customer Focus
- Working Together
The idea for the awards was borne out of the Our People Our Plan project, during the Culture workshops, where colleagues said they’d like recognition for innovation and the chance to acknowledge and celebrate ‘wins’ by teams and colleagues across the organisation.
The ViP Awards are backed by senior management, with colleagues given time from their working day to take part in the panel.
Time wise, it involves one training meeting and three panel meetings – each about an hour – 29 August for the training session and September, December and March for the panel meetings. These will be virtual meetings to make it easier to get involved no matter where you work from. If you are interested but can’t make the training session, don’t worry - it will be recorded and you can have a follow up chat with us if you have any questions.
Ideally we’d love to see people from each Directorate putting themselves forward.
There will be three rounds of nominations, with finalists from each round going head to head in the Annual Awards Ceremony.
So if you enjoy hearing how others in the Council work to solve problems or improve services to our community and want to shout about it – and help create a better working culture for us all - throw your hat in the ring!
Drop an email to the Organisational Development team on OD@orkney.gov.uk, letting us know your Name, Team and Directorate.
We look forward to hearing from you!
