Are you looking to develop your skills this year?

With the support of Scottish Government funding, the Orkney Local Employability Partnership are excited to offer free opportunities for parents to develop their skills and achieve a qualification to help support their current job, or to progress in their role.

We are looking to work with colleagues across Orkney Islands Council who want to:

  • Develop confidence
  • Increase skills
  • Gain a qualification

The courses available are work-based so you will need to be working in area relevant to the qualification in order to gather the evidence required to demonstrate your skills, and you will need your line manager approval. 

Courses include:

  • SVQ2 Business and Administration 
  • SVQ3 Business and Administration 
  • ATT Certificate in bookkeeping 
  • ATT Foundation Certificate in Accountancy SCQF Level 6 
  • ATT Diploma in Accountancy SCQF Level 7 
  • Bricklaying PDA SCQF Level 7 
  • Carpentry and Joinery PDA SCQF Level 7 
  • SVQ3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership SCQF Level 7 
  • Introduction to a Career in Social Care SCQF Level 5 
  • CMI Level 6 First Line Management.

Who is eligible?

The funding criteria set by the Scottish Government means that we are looking for colleagues who are currently working in roles graded between A and E across the organisation, and who are parents.

Alternatively, you can find out more at one of our drop in sessions on Friday 16 February from 3pm until 5pm and Wednesday 21 February from 9.30am until 11am. Both drop in sessions will be hosted at The Hub, at the SDS building, Albert Street in Kirkwall and are open to both applicants and managers wishing to support team members .
