If I think that it’s safe to cross but the barriers are closed why can’t I just drive through?

Closures are enforced by Police Scotland.  These closures are put in place to ensure the safety of the travelling public and the decision to close is based on a wide range of data.  Conditions can be deceptive, especially during darkness, and the decision to close will be based on a range of data and the likely level of overall risk.

We would remind everyone that operatives staffing the closures are acting under direction and should be treated with respect at all times, whilst they carry out their duties under difficult conditions.  Any abuse or challenging behaviour is not acceptable and will be reported and dealt with appropriately.
