How do you know when to start monitoring and checking conditions at the Barriers?
The Roads team continually monitors weather forecasts, tidal conditions, wind direction and swell conditions throughout the year. We are also helped by coastal flood forecasts provided by SEPA, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency. When this information indicates that wave overtopping is likely we schedule on-site inspections and send out notifications through our usual communication channels.
