Application Search and Submission

The Public Access service is designed to give you easier access to details of planning applications.

You can:

  • Follow progress and make comment on current planning applications.
  • View associated plans and documents (from Jan 2008).
  • View basic details of all applications (from 2005).
  • See if an appeal has been lodged (from 2003).
  • Track the progress of an application.
  • Check and create your own weekly lists.
  • View Planning Applications and Appeals Online.

The Public Access facility allows you to search and view documentation relating to planning applications and appeals. To access the facility please read and understand the Disclaimer and Copyright document available in the 'Related Downloads' section then click on the 'Accept and Search' button below.

New applications and related documents are uploaded to the service within 5 working days of their receipt. New applications will only become available for view once they have gone through the validation process.

Plans and documents are stored in PDF format. Adobe Acrobat Reader is available by clicking on the Adobe icon found in the 'Related Downloads' section of this page. Should you have difficulty in reading the documents, please ensure that you are using the latest version of your PDF reader software.

If you require a paper copy of any decision notice or drawings, those can be purchased from Development Management for a fee per application. Copies will be provided to the original applicant or agent, current property owner, or any other party with a vested interest.

Commenting on a planning application

There is a facility for members of the public to comment on planning applications on the Public Access service. To access this facility please read and understand the Disclaimer and Copyright document available in the 'Related Downloads' section then click on the 'Accept and Search' button below. Any comments on a planning application will also be viewable online. In order to comply with the Data Protection Act we remove any personal details such as telephone numbers, email addresses and signatures from the documents shown on our website.

Tracking a Planning Applications progress

If you register with our Public Access service there is the facility to track applications. Once registered you can enter the reference number of any application you have an interest in and every time there is a change to the status of the application or a new document is added an email notification will be sent to you.

Submit an Application Online

The Council encourages and welcomes the submission of applications for planning permission electronically through the E-Planning Scotland website.

The ePlanning Scotland website is the Scottish Government's online planning resource for Scotland. Use this site to learn about planning, apply for planning permission, download planning application forms, guidance notes and submit an appeal or a notice of review against a planning decision.

Advice on the completion of application forms and submission online is available electronically on the E-Planning website as you go through the process. Or you can download the E-Planning Scotland User Guide from the 'Related Sites' section of this web page.
