Core Paths SEA
A Strategic Environmental Assessment, or SEA, of the Core Paths Plan is required by the Environmental Assessment Scotland Act 2005. This Act is the implementing legislation for the European Directive, known as the SEA Directive.
The Purpose of SEA
The purpose of SEA is to ensure that during the preparation of a plan, programme or strategy, or PPS, the significant environmental effects of the PPS are taken into account. Its aim is to prevent, reduce and offset any negative environmental impacts of the plan.
The SEA legislation requires that the findings of the SEA are published in an Environmental Report, which sets out the likely significant environmental effects of the plan. The Environmental Report is available for download with its appendices from the 'Related Downloads' section of this page.
