Adult Residential Accommodation (Care Homes)
Orkney Health and Care provide care homes in Stromness, Dounby and Kirkwall. The aim of each service is to provide a homely environment, in which independence and quality of life are central.
The first step of admission is to contact Orkney Health and Care, Adult Services Help Desk, as follows:
- Visit: Council Reception desk at School Place and ask to speak to the Orkney Health and Care Help Desk worker between 09:00 and 13:00.
- Phone 01856 873535, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 13:00 or 13:00 to 17:00 if an emergency.
- Email at the Adult Services Helpdesk.
A Care Manager will be allocated; who will assess the needs of the individual and make a recommendation for a placement dependent on their assessment. The Allocation of Residential Care (ARC) process can be found in the 'Related Links' section of this page.

Hamnavoe House (Stromness)

Hamnavoe House has 36 single bedrooms providing long term care for people over 65 years with high-dependency needs.
There is separate accommodation for people with dementia or physically frailty.

St. Rognvald’s House has 40 single bedrooms providing long term care for people over 65 years with high-dependency needs. There is separate accommodation for people with dementia or physically frailty.
