Hall of Fame
The Sporting Hall of Fame was established in 2020, with the help from sportscotland, The Orcadian and local volunteers, to celebrate the very best in Orkney’s sporting achievements and dedication. The Hall of Fame champions the vast accomplishments achieved by the county’s most famed and revered sportsmen and women. It also honours those who, in a voluntary role, have selflessly provided a long and meritorious service to sport and without whom, sport would not happen.
Orkney Active Schools team oversee the promotion and administration, which goes on behind the scenes to make this initiative happen. Nominations are sought by the public, who can put forward and nominate sporting athletes / volunteers, who have gone above and beyond to help to put Orkney on the sporting map.
Due to COVID restrictions the first inductions into the Hall of Fame were done by a live social media stream. A link is available from the 'Related Sites' section of this page.
Future inductions will be announced at the Annual Sports Awards. Nomination forms and criteria can also be found on that page.
