Transition Sport

Organised by the Active Schools Team, these festivals are designed to bring all the pupils in P7 together through the medium of sport; prior to starting at Secondary School.  It is an excellent opportunity for pupils to meet their future classmates in a sporting environment and hopefully make links to local clubs. There is usually a festival for the Kirkwall Grammar School cluster schools and for the Stromness Academy cluster schools. Four sports are generally offered, and the coaching sessions are provided by coaches from the relevant sports clubs. These festivals are also kindly supported by Sports Leaders qualified pupils, and also by a number of local organisations and services who come along to provide a ‘marketplace’ of services available to young people in the county.
