VACMA: Samantha Clark – Visual Artist
Date: 30th August 2022
Time: 00:00
“During the month of May 2021, I was able to spend an intensive period of time working in the studio and exploring the use of new surfaces such as kaolin, mica and silver leaf, with a particular focus on the latter.
The VACMA award allowed me to buy materials and cover some other studio expenses, enabling me to focus on exploration and experimentation. Over the period covered by the award I was able to produce 20 new pieces or artwork at various scales, some on paper, others on board.
I posted regularly on social media throughout the month, documenting my studio process and showing early results, documenting my working process in still and moving image. I am planning to hold an Open Studio event at the end of July and to launch the new body of work on my website at the same time. This will allow more feedback to be gathered both online and in person.”
