"I spent quite a bit of time at the beginning of the project researching and approaching galleries within Scotland. I sent work to Gallery Heinzel in Aberdeen, The Castle gallery in Inverness and The Torrance gallery in Edinburgh. I also applied to exhibit at the annual RWS Exhibition and Aberdeen Arts society annual exhibition, the latter of which I am a member. I also became a member of the Moray Arts Centre. I also spent time visiting and researching different galleries in Edinburgh with a view to approaching them in the future.

The Torrance gallery took four works for their Spring exhibition. Unfortunately because of on going covid restrictions the gallery did not have an opening night but work was put on their on line shop/website and I was able to visit the gallery and talk to the owner before the exhibition.

I exhibited in the Moray arts centre members exhibition in July. I didn’t manage to go to the opening but I did visit the show later, made some good connections and sold one major artwork. I plan to exhibit more work in the future at their gallery with a possible solo exhibition.

In August I spent four days staying in Birsay village concentrating on my painting and researching the area for future work. This was a very successful time and I experimented with various new materials particularly ‘found’ objects from the shoreline. I plan to build on the work I did there and approach more galleries with paintings in 2023 with the intention of exhibiting.

At the end of October I visited Inverness gallery to see an exhibition of mixed works from the north of Scotland artists. I met with sculpture artist Lucy Woodley who is on the gallery committee and arranged to send her images for the rest of the committee to view with the proposal of exhibiting in the gallery. I have sent her the images but so far have not heard back as the committee have not met yet during the winter.

Locally I plan to exhibit artwork at The Highland Park Distillery shop in September/October 2023. I would like to develop my research and artwork that I did when staying in Birsay last summer for the exhibition.

I have also continued to paint and develop work here at my studio in The Creative Hub, Hatston throughout the year."
