Arts Development
Orkney Islands Council’s Arts Development Service sits within a wider Arts, Museums and Heritage Service that has a broad remit across arts and culture in Orkney. The team can offer advice and practical help to organisations and individuals on developing arts and cultural projects, sourcing funding and support applications. The team also facilitates and manages projects such as exhibitions, commissioning, creative residencies, education and community initiatives. Working in partnership is of vital importance in Orkney so we are always keen to hear about ideas, projects and opportunities to collaborate.
During 2017 the Council and Orkney Arts Forum worked together to develop a new arts development strategy in support of Orkney’s future arts and cultural activity, organisations and communities. Orkney’s Creative Future was published in October 2017, it sets out 3 strategic areas of activity that will be of focus over the next 10 years and includes a live set of sector aims and ambitions.
