Local Housing Allowance
Tenants who are claiming benefits or who have a low income may be entitled to assistance with their rent through Local Housing Allowance (LHA).
The tenant must complete a Local Housing Allowance form and return it to the Council Offices. The Housing Benefit Section will then process the claim and any benefit due will either be paid to your tenant every two weeks in arrears, or direct to you every four weeks in arrears. Who the benefit is paid to depends on what the tenant has requested.
Direct Payment of Housing Benefit to the Landlord
You can insist the rent is paid directly to you if the tenant is 8 weeks or more in arrears. For more information, please visit our Landlords - Direct payments web page, available through the 'Related Links' section of this web page.
