Air Pollution
The Environmental Health team has a responsibility for measuring the quality of ambient air to ensure that it meets required standards in relation to the concentration of a defined range of pollutants such as lead, nitrogen dioxide and benzene.
Air Quality Report
An Air Quality Progress Report, compiled by Orkney Islands Council, is the latest in a series of reports relating to air quality. This report contains the latest air quality data as monitored within Orkney. The pollutants discussed in this report are nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide and benzene.
All of these pollutants are subject to air quality objectives as set by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
