In terms of mobile broadband, 'dongle' is the word that has been almost universally adopted to describe the small device that receives a mobile broadband signal. These devices contain a SIM card from your mobile broadband supplier. You can get dongles that plug into a port on a computer, or mobile Wi-Fi (sometimes 'MiFi').
