Business Development Support
The Council may offer grants of up to 30% of eligible capital expenditure up to a maximum grant of £55,000 towards projects in eligible sectors.
Project costs can include the construction or improvement of buildings (purchase of land/buildings is not eligible for assistance). Purchase of machinery and equipment may also be eligible. Assistance towards revenue costs - such as design costs, non-statutory training and marketing - can be considered eligible on a case-by-case basis but working capital support is not available. No two projects are the same so you should discuss your proposals with Economic Development officers to identify the project costs which may be eligible for grant support.
Businesses in agriculture and fisheries are ineligible, as are retail goods and service businesses serving only the internal market. Projects must have minimum eligible expenditure of £10,000. Please see the 'Related Links' section of this page.
A Flexible Business Development Grant is also available for smaller business development projects that will deliver a demonstrable economic development outcome. This funding is offered at up to 50% costs up to a maximum grant of £5,000
