Quality Assurance and Development Planning
The routine process of self evaluation and quality assurance that underpins the work of each school will already focus on outcomes and how the school engages children and young people in quality learning activities and maximises success for all learners.
The school’s standards and quality report is a key document evaluating much of the provision in school using the existing self evaluation processes. A key focus of the standards and quality report will be meeting learning needs and the learning experiences of the children and young people.
These evaluations are supported by the structures as outlined in How Good is Our School 2007 and The Journey To Excellence 2006. While quality indicator 5.3 Meeting Learning Needs from How Good is Our School, may be seen a key indicator, other related indicators e.g. 5.2 Teaching for Effective Learning and 2.1 Learners Experience as well as 9.3 Developing People and Partnerships should also be considered.
From The Journey to Excellence, dimension 1 engages young people in the highest quality learning activities and dimension 2 focuses on outcomes and maximises success for all learners, are the key dimensions for promoting inclusive practice.
From time to time the local authority will audit specific aspects of the work of all schools in relation to supporting learners. Head teachers can also ‘commission’ a specific audit of the work of the school by contacting their Service Improvement Officer or the Head of Schools.
