Young folk encouraged to sign up for digital resilience course

Young folk in Orkney are being offered the chance to learn how to better protect themselves online.

An in-person Young Scot DigiKnow course is being run by the Council’s Youth Services Team as part of the summer activities programme.

The free sessions will run at Kirkwall Grammar School, room GO69 on Friday 18 August. There will be two sessions from 10am-12noon for 11-15 year olds and 1pm-5pm for 16-25 year olds.

The interactive two-hour sessions in digital resilience will be tailored dependent on age groups, however young folk can expect:

  • a fun, informal and interactive workshop
  • upskilling in the key areas of our DigiKnow? programme including -
  • how to stay safe from online threats
  • how to make positive choices for online health & wellbeing
  • how to get into cyber and digital careers
  • a certificate of participation for every learner
  • 200 Young Scot reward points for every learner.
