Work at Shapinsay slip starting soon

Date: 21 January 2019

Time: 09:06

Work to improve the marshalling and parking areas next to the Shapinsay Slip in Kirkwall is due to start next week.

While the resurfacing work is underway, passenger and vehicle access to and from the Shapinsay ferry will be maintained.

However, the parking area will be unavailable for vehicles to use once the work begins on Wednesday 23 January. Owners are asked to move vehicles currently parked there before Wednesday.

Ferry users travelling to Shapinsay with vehicles are advised to arrive 10 minutes earlier than usual in case there are any temporary delays. The Shapinsay ferry will be running as close to timetable as possible.

The work will result in a much improved road surface for the marshalling and parking areas. It is planned to be completed by the end of the first week in February. The Council apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused during this period.
