Waste and recycling over Jubilee period

Changes to waste and recycling services over the period celebrating Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee:

For domestic / household waste and recycling:

Orkney Islands Council is advising all Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs) will be closed on Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June for the Jubilee public holidays.

Garson, Hatston and St Margaret’s Hope HWRCs will reopen on Saturday 4 June, with the remaining sites reopening as per their normal opening days in the following week.

Kerbside waste and recycling collections for householders will however take place as normal over the Jubilee period.

For commercial waste and recycling:

Chinglebraes and Bossack sites will be closed to commercial users on Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June. Chinglebraes will reopen to commercial users only on Monday 6 June. Bossack will reopen to all customers on Tuesday 7 June. Waste and recycling collections for trade customers will operate as normal on the public holidays.
