Views sought on procurement policy

Date: 9 October 2017

Time: 03:18

Orkney Islands Council is seeking views on its draft Sustainable Procurement Policy, which looks at how the Council buys goods and services in a way that benefits the local community.

The Council spends tens of millions of pounds every year on a diverse range of goods and services from suppliers.

‘Sustainable procurement’ means that organisations should buy goods and services in a way that benefits the economy, society and the environment - while achieving value for money.

Gillian Morrison is the Council’s Executive Director of Corporate Services. She said: “The draft sustainable procurement policy sets out the aims of this Council in ensuring that the way we buy goods and services represents value for public money at the same time as supporting and benefiting our local community.”

You can access the document on the consultation page. The closing date for completed questionnaires is 17:00 on 16 November 2017.
