Update on Autumn road works

Orkney Islands Council is reminding motorists they will be carrying out road patching and resurfacing works across Orkney over coming months.
The next couple of weeks will see works in Hoy and Mainland Orkney, with expected start date and duration as follows:
- B9047 (Lyness to Moaness Road) in Hoy – from 18 October for around 1 week – closed between Pegal Burn bridge and ‘the sheep shed’. Ferry times and school buses will be accommodated.
- Pier Road, Longhope – from 25 October for around 1 week – closed for full length. Pedestrian access to pier and shop will be maintained but parking will be very limited. Ferry times and school buses will be accommodated.
- Cantick Road, South Walls in Hoy – from 25 October for 1 week
- Moss Road, Holm – From 14 October for 2 weeks – Closed from Memorial at junction with the B9052 to a section west of Netherton Farm. The diversion is round the A961 and B9052.
Motorists are also advised works on Ayre Mills roundabout is continuing in Kirkwall next week, with signed diversions in place.
Work start and completion dates are subject to change due to weather and other factors.
The Council would like to thank motorists in Hoy for their patience as these important upgrades to the road network are carried out.
