The Orkney Islands Council (The Meadows, Kirkwall, County Show) (Temporary Closure) Order 2023

Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users during Orkney Agricultural Society’s running of the annual County Show.

The Order will be in operation on Saturday, 12 August 2022, between the hours of 00:01 and 23.30. The effect of the Order will be:

(1) to close The Meadows, Kirkwall, between its junction with Meadow Drive and Meadow Park from 08:00 to 17:00; and (2) to prohibit waiting at any time in a road specified in the Schedule hereto.

Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when the road is closed.

Schedule (all roads in Kirkwall)

Bignold Park Road between Dundas Crescent and Inganess Road;

Claymore Brae for a distance of 15 metres from Bignold Park Road;

Deerness Road between Bignold Park Road and Watson Drive;

Dundas Crescent between Buttquoy Crescent and Bignold Park Road;

Easdale Loan for a distance of 15 metres from Deerness Road;

Flett Park for approximately 15 metres from Bignold Park Road;

George Street;

Grassick Court for approximately 15 metres from Bignold Park Road;

Holm Road between Bignold Park Road and the footpath leading towards Quoybanks Place (at Newerne), including the grassed area at the junction with Bignold Park Road and Holm Road;

Inganess Road between Bignold Park Road / Deerness Road and Bellevue Park (at Benbradagh), including the grassed areas at the junction of Inganess Road and Bignold Park Road / Deerness Road;

The access road lying to the northwest of 3 Meadowbank;

The Meadows between Bignold Park Road and Meadow Park; and

Rope Walk for a distance of 15 metres from Deerness Road.
