The Orkney Islands Council (Orkney Folk Festival) (Temporary Closure) Order 2023

Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users during the Orkney Folk Festival.

The Order shall be in operation from Thursday, 25 May 2023 to Monday, 29 May 2023. Its effect will be to:

(1) Close Victoria Street, Stromness (from No 14 Victoria Street to the junction with Church Road) and Ferry Road, Stromness (from No 14a Victoria Street to its junction with Victoria Street) between the hours of 1000 and 1800 on Saturday, 27 May 2023 and Sunday, 28 May 2023; and

(2) Prohibit parking between the hours of 0800 on Thursday, 25 May 2023 and 1700 on Monday, 29 May 2023, within the parking bays located between Numbers 14 to 16 Victoria Street, Stromness and located between Numbers 14a to 16 Victoria Street (Ferry Road), Stromness; and

(3) Introduce a temporary one-way traffic order to enable traffic to drive in an easterly direction from Victoria Street to Ferry Road, during the operation of the Order.

Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when a road or parking bay is closed. Emergency service vehicles are exempt from the prohibitions.
