Tell us what you want from your council website

Orkney Islands Council is seeking feedback from the public about its website, and any improvements the community would like to see.

During the recent Our Budget Challenges survey there was useful feedback from the public that our website could be improved. We are now looking for more information and details to help us do this.

The Council's website home page was last redesigned in 2023 to make it easier for people to find the services and information they need.

Some recent changes include social media feeds being added to the top of the homepage, so members of the public can view the latest updates from the Council without the need to have a login for Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn or YouTube.

Ross Cunningham, Service Manager for Democratic Services and Communications, said:

“As the recent public consultation highlighted, the website remains one of the most popular ways for members of the public to access information on how the council serves them and to use platforms such as MyOrkney to report issues.

“With the importance of the website to the community in mind, we are always looking at ways to identify further improvements and as part of this we wish to engage directly with the public on what improvements they would like to see.

"The recent changes we have made to the website homepage, such as including social media feed updates, have been well received however we know there is much more to do so we really want to hear from our community about what they would like to see, or be able to do, on their council website.

“We're asking folk to complete a short 10 minute survey which can be found at engage.orkneyislands.uk/WebsiteFeedback which closes on Sunday 13 April 2025.

"This is a great opportunity to gather feedback from the folk who use and rely upon the website, so that we can focus on improvements and tools that enhance the vital information we share, and that our community needs.”
