The North Isles Landscape Partnership Scheme (NILPS) team is now up to full strength with the appointment of three new staff members.
Working with the communities on the North Isles the NILPS will deliver projects that will promote the heritage, landscape and culture of the area. Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the scheme will support Orkney’s North Isles through the delivery of a number of projects that includes traditional skills training, educational programmes, wildlife recording and enhancement of isles heritage centres amongst others.
The programme will invest £4.5 million in the North Isles and the project will run until 2023.
Programme Manager Andy Golightly said “It’s great to now have the team in place so we can concentrate on delivering the projects in the isles, a lot of work has been done getting to this point and now the focus will be working with the isles communities to start getting things done on the ground”.
One of the first things that will be available is the North Isles Landscape Partnership Heritage Grants. Small grants will be available that contribute to the aims and objectives of the NILPS programme. Groups and organisations can apply for grants of up to £2000 to support projects, activities and events in the isles.
Valerie Dawson, NILPS Project Officer added “The Heritage Grants are open to applicants now and we would encourage any not for profit organisations, with any ideas related to heritage, that might require funding to contact us to see if we can help.”
The project team can be contacted on (01856) 879076 or email the North Isles Landscape Partnership scheme or visit their website.
