Surface dressing update – Wednesday 28 July
Date: 27 July 2021
Time: 04:04
The Council’s roads crews are planning to carry out surface dressing in St Margaret’s Hope on Wednesday 28 July – weather permitting.
The plan is to start early in the morning and surface dress Doctor’s Road before the local surgery opens.
The work will then switch to St Margaret’s Road, which runs from Cromarty Square to the junction with the main Kirkwall to South Ronaldsay road (the A961).
This will be carried out in three stages to minimise disruption as far as possible.
A signed diversion will be in place while the section from Cromarty Square to the junction with Doctor’s Road is surface dressed.
Work on the short section between the A961 and the top of Church Road will mean that the junction with the main road is temporarily closed for a brief period – this will be done at a time that avoids disrupting ferry traffic.
The final section of St Margaret’s Road to be surface dressed is between the junctions with Church Road and Doctor’s Road. A signed diversion will be in place while this work is carried out.
Any changes will be posted on the OIC Updates Facebook page, and on Twitter @ OIC Roads
We thank residents and drivers for their patience and co-operation while this important work is carried out.
Drivers are reminded for everyone's safety to observe the speed limits in place on newly dressed roads.
