Surface dressing update for Monday 21 June and Tuesday 22 June
Date: 18 June 2021
Time: 03:34
Surface dressing work is planned for Tankerness on Monday 21 June and Tuesday 22 June.
On Monday, this is due to take place on the Yinstay road from its junction with the Tankerness Hall road to the junction with the Copenago road. A signed detour will be in place.
Tuesday’s surface dressing is due to take place on the Tankerness Hall road from the junction with the main A960 Kirkwall to Deerness road to the junction with the Swarsquoy road.
A signed detour will also be in place while this work is carried out.
Bus passengers who use Service 3 (Kirkwall to Deerness via Tankerness) are advised that that there will be no pick ups along this section of the Tankerness Hall road on Tuesday for the late morning service from Deerness and the lunchtime service in both directions.
The work may also affect services later in the day. Passengers are advised to pick up the bus outwith this stretch of road. The bus will instead go via Churchyard and Shore roads while surface dressing is taking place.
On Monday and Tuesday, full road closures will be in place between 9am and 5pm (and possibly later if the crews are close to finishing the work).
Any changes will be posted in the News section of the Council’s website as well as on the OIC Updates Facebook page, and on Twitter @OIC_Roads.
The Council would like to thank motorists and bus passengers for their ongoing patience and cooperation as this important work is carried out.
