Surface dressing starts in Hoy

Date: 16 July 2018

Time: 04:42

Surface dressing will take place in Hoy this week, with full road closures in place while work is carried out.

Work will start on Tuesday 17 July on the B9047 (the main Moaness -Lyness- Longhope road), on a 1km section either side of Lyrawa Bay in North Hoy. This work is expected to carry on throughout much of Wednesday 18 July as well.

Once this stretch is complete, work will move onto a section of the B9047 between Rysa Lodge and just west of Muckle Rysa (a few miles north of Lyness). This work is expected to take place on Wednesday 18 July and Thursday 19 July.

The final section of work will be on the B9047 at Lyness, from the Hoy Hotel to just past the School (Hoy and North Walls Community School). This work is expected to take place Thursday 19 July and into Friday 20 July.

There are no diversion routes for all these works, however the team will make every effort to maintain access for vehicles and will ensure ferry traffic can get through. Please allow an extra twenty minutes for your journey.

No public bus services are affected.
