Support to help you make more of going online

An event takes place this week to help people in Orkney make the most of the internet.
Held as part of the country-wide Get Online Week, it will be hosted by The Learning Link, part of Orkney Islands Council’s Education, Leisure and Housing service.
Robin Jamieson-Caley, from The Learning Link, said: “More people than you probably think still don’t use the internet at all, and we’re here to help. But even if you send the odd email, use Facebook or read the news on your phone, you could still be missing out on so much.
“Getting the most out of the internet doesn’t have to be scary. Doing just one new thing online is all you need to do to get started - come along to our event and we can help you do just that.”
The Get Online Week event takes place on Thursday 18 October from 10:00 - 13:00 at Kirkwall Community Centre.
“There’ll be lots of friendly support for anyone who wants to start doing a bit more online - and it’s absolutely free,” Robin added.
“You can call us on 01856879200 to find out more, or just pop in and see what’s happening. The more the merrier and everyone’s welcome.”
This will be one of hundreds of community events held across the country as part of Get Online Week.
