Sunday openings for Shore Street ferries office

The Orkney Ferries Shore Street office will be open on Sundays from 23 June 2024.  

The office will be staffed from 9am until 3pm all year round. 

Service Manager (Ferry Operations), Eddie Barclay, said: “We run a seven days per week lifeline service so this will provide a point of contact for our customers who are travelling on a Sunday – especially important if there are weather-related disruptions. It will also support our sea staff who are involved in delivering our services over the weekend. 

“We hope this will be well received by our many passengers in Orkney and away.” 

Chair of the Board of Orkney Ferries, Councillor Mellissa Thomson, said: “This has been a key ask from the isles for some time now, so I am delighted to see the company at a point where we have been able to put the Sunday opening in place. 

“I see this as a very positive step forward, particularly for our local communities who rely on the service from January to December and during the long winter months when disruptions are more likely.”
