Summer parking fees reminder

Date: 23 April 2018

Time: 02:51

Orkney Islands Council is reminding drivers that the ‘first hour free’ parking run by the Council over winter ends on 30 April and from 1 May the Council carparks in central Kirkwall and Stromness will revert to the summer tariffs.

The fees in the Albert Street, Castle Street, St Magnus Lane and Gunn’s Close Car Parks in Kirkwall and the Ferry Inn Car Park in Stromness will change to 60p for 1 hour, £1.30p for 2 hours and £2.70 for 3 hours.

Burgh Road, Great Western Road (North) and Stromness Ferry Terminal car parks will change to £1.10 for up to 4 hours and £1.60 for up to eight hours.

This is an increase of between 10p and 20p on last summer’s prices. The increase is in line with a Council decision taken when setting the budget for 2018 to 2019, that existing fees and charges for most Council services should increase by at least 4% from April 2018.

Signage in these car parks will be changed to reflect the summer tariffs.

A complete list of Council charges is available in the Finance section of the Council website.
