Summer car parking fees and fee increase reminder

The council is reminding drivers that the ‘first-hour free’ parking run by the Council over the winter ends on 30 April, and that new increased charges come into effect from 3 May.
The fees in the Albert Street, Castle Street, St Magnus Lane and Gunn’s Close Car Parks in Kirkwall and the Ferry Inn Car Park in Stromness will change to £1.20 for 1 hour, £2.70 for 2 hours and £5.70 for 3 hours – an increase on last summer’s prices of £0.40, £0.90 and £1.90 respectively.
Burgh Road, Great Western Road (North) and Stromness Ferry Terminal car parks will change to £2.40 for up to 4 hours and £3.30 for up to eight hours - an increase of £0.90 and £1.10 respectively on last summer’s prices.
Parking is free of charge all year round at the council's Great Western Road (South), Waterfront (East and West), The Crafty and Muddisdale Road carparks in Kirkwall - and in Stromness at the Ferry Road (east, north and west) and Old Academy carparks.
