Stronsay waste collection day change
Date: 26 November 2024
Time: 03:00
Following a request from the haulage company serving Stronsay, the island’s weekly waste collection day is to be moved from a Tuesday to a Thursday.
The operational ask is to ensure that a more appropriate vehicle can be used by the hauliers for the collection.
The Council’s Head of Neighbourhood Services, Lorna Richardson, said: “There was no operational issue with this request from the haulage company from an OIC perspective and we are happy to assist the haulier with this ask.
“The Stronsay Community Council has been made aware, there will be a news item within the island’s December magazine, The Limpet, and posters will be distributed alongside regular reminders on the Stronsay Facebook page.
“After discussions with the haulier, it was felt best to introduce the change following the festive period, so the new collection day on a Thursday will start from 9 January 2025.”
This means the following timetable for Stronsay’s waste collection will be:
Tuesday 26 November, 3 December, 10 December and 17 December as per the existing arrangement with collections remaining on Tuesdays.
Friday 27 December and Friday 3 January 2025 adjusted collections for the festive period.
Thursday 9 January 2025 – the ongoing collection day is now a Thursday.
