Stormy conditions are continuing to cause issues for some of the Council’s services
Date: 26 November 2021
The wind has detached a live overhead cable at the Hatston Waste and Recycling Centre, which cannot be repaired safely in these conditions.
For the safety of staff and the public, the decision has been taken to close the site until qualified contractors are available to repair the damage once conditions allow for this to happen.
This means Hatston will be closed until the start of next week.
The OIC’s Interim Head of Roads, Fleet and Waste, Lorna Richardson, said: “We are hopeful that this will not affect too many people this weekend given the atrocious weather conditions which are set to continue into Sunday. Paramount must be the safety of staff and the public so the site will not reopen until suitable contractors are available to carry out the necessary repair works. We hope that this can happen on Monday, but we will provide updates via social media and the local media as soon as we can.”
In the meantime, the Garson site is open over the weekend for waste and recycling, although capacity is limited so we would ask that folk hang on til next week if at all possible. The ‘Hope is also open at weekends for recycling only.
