Sheltered housing consultation
Date: 25 April 2018
Time: 02:29
A consultation is planned on how the Council best delivers its sheltered housing service in future.
Sheltered housing is provided by OIC at Lambaness in Kirkwall and Rae’s Close in Stromness.
Residents, staff and other stakeholders have been invited to discuss the way forward for the service with Wilfred Weir, the Council’s Executive Director of Education, Leisure and Housing, and Frances Troup, Head of Housing, Homelessness and Schoolcare Accommodation Services.
Frances Troup said: “The Council faces serious financial challenges and this is expected to continue over the year ahead.
“As a result, we have to look at all of our services, to make sure they are delivered as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
“This is why we want to consult with residents, staff and others involved in our sheltered housing service and discuss with them how it is best delivered in future. No decisions have been taken and all feedback will be presented to Elected Members later this year.”
The results of the consultation are expected to be considered by OIC’s Education, Leisure and Housing Committee in September.
