Roadworks round-up Monday 15 May

We have a round-up of works underway or soon to start around Orkney from Monday 15 May 2023.
Scottish Water are working on the A960 in Toab, under traffic lights for the duration of the work.
The collapsed culvert on the Harray Road (A986) is remains covered by steel plates while replacement options are investigated. Further information will be provided in due course.
Streetlighting and footway resurfacing is underway on Scapa Crescent and expected to continue into early July. Access to properties is being maintained. The work will be carried out using a variety of traffic management measures which will include road closures at times.
Extensive roadworks began on the A965 in Finstown this week at the Evie Road junction under three-way traffic lights. Expect short delays.
Slab repairs on Albert Street, Bridge Street and Victoria Street, Kirkwall, started on Tuesday 9 May, with the work expected to take around three weeks to complete. This will be carried out under road closure conditions, with access to affected properties and deliveries to businesses accommodated where possible. All waste and recycling should be put out as normal for collection.
Week 1 - Bridge Street and Albert Street (Bridge St to Laing St). Repairs are complete but plated to allow curing time.
Week 2 - Albert Street (Laing St to Broad St). Planned to start on Monday 15 May.
Week 3 - Victoria Street.
Openreach are carrying out works on Heathery Loan, St Ola work which are expected to last for around one week to enable new fibreoptic cables and ducts to be laid in safety.
Our operational team are planning to start reconstruction work on two sections of the Ontoft Road, St Margaret’s Hope, between Cromarty Square and Pier Road. The work will be carried out under road closure conditions with the road being closed to all traffic between 9am-3pm each day. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.
Looking Ahead:
Pickaquoy Road / Junction Road, from Monday 22 May 2023.
For around one week there will be a closure on Pickaquoy Road, between Great Western Road and Junction Road, to enable Openreach to carry out repair work to a manhole at the junction into Lidl. At the same time Scottish Water will also have temporary two-way traffic lights at the mini roundabout on Junction Road to repair / replace worn valve and access covers.
