Plan today so you can vote in May

Date: 9 February 2021

Time: 08:31

On the 6th of May the elections for the Scottish Parliament will take place. If you are aged 16 or over that day, resident in Scotland and registered to vote, you will be able to take part.

To help you prepare, the Electoral Registration Office has issued a letter to all properties in Orkney listing electors who are currently registered and detailing those who already have a postal vote in place.

If you are not included on that letter you can register to vote between now and 19 April at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. For those who are registered but not listed as a postal voter, you can apply to vote by post now by visiting www.orkney-shetland-vjb.co.uk and downloading the application form.

Dennis Stevenson Electoral Registration Officer for Orkney and Shetland says ‘The letter we have issued highlights your opportunity to plan ahead. To vote by post you must get your application form to our office by 17:00 on 6 April 2021. It would be helpful if you could apply as soon as possible or at least well in advance of the deadline.

If you have any queries about your registration or postal voting please contact our office on 01856876222 or email ero@orkney.gov.uk
